This Springbok by Loet Vanderveen is exquisite; with its minimalist and simple design. He has managed to beautifully capture the character of the Springbok using his Caramel Patina’s and gold detailing.
Loet Vanderveen’s creation begins with an artistically perfect Sculpture made from clay, wood, wax or plaster. Then a mould is made from the animal sculpture to capture every detail of vanderveen’s original. Hot wax is then added to the mould when cooled it is removed and hand finished to perfection. The wax is then coated with ceramic called investing, which can take up to a week. Its then fired in a kiln and the molten bronze is added. When the Bronze is cool the ceramic is chipped away and the Animal sculpture is cleaned and polished before going through its patination process, which involves the use of chemical and heat treatment to produce the finished masterpiece.
