| Crusades Chess Set | This ornamental Crusades Chess Set from the Studio Anne Carlton (SAC) depicts the exploits of the Crusader knights between 1095 and 1292 or more accurately the Third Great Crusade, a battle led in 1189 by King Richard I of England (Richard the Lionheart) with King Philip II of France to recapture Jersualem from the Muslim leader, Saladin – a battle which ultimately failed.
Each hand painted chess piece in the Crusades Chess Set is created by skilled craftsmen and represents in great detail the Christian side in combat with the Muslim armies led by Saladin.
This ornamental chess set is one of several themed chess sets from SAC, now part of the Traditional Games Company Ltd, and other titles in the range include The White Tower, Richard the Lionheart and Canterbury.
Please note that although the chess pieces are supplied without a board we do also supply a range of SAC chess boards which are made to the same high standards as their chess sets.
Picture shows Crusades on a Deluxe Walnut and Sycamore 50cm board (H401).
