Decanter Design
The design of decanters for use on Naval Vessels are such that the cannot fall over as the ship moved. The Wide bottomed decanter kept the centre of gravity low and so is stable. There were also pointed decanters, once these were off their base they had to be held as the Port Decanter was passed round the table, these had the added advantage of allowing sediment to settle.
