| Rockhopper Penguin | Rockhoppers are part of a family of penguins called the crested penguins because of the brightly coloured feathers on their heads. These bright feathers look like long eyebrows. Rockhoppers are the smallest of the crested penguins. They eat squid, krill and other small fish.
They are noisy and feisty little birds, bursting with both physical character and charm.
Royal Crown Derby have captured cold of the Antarctic region where they live (and the Falkland Islands) by decorating the Rockhopper penguin with rich maritime colours of traditional Crown Derby mazarine blue and giving him a soft and downy belly.
It is interesting that John Ablitt has chosen to tone down this animal which does look like a bit of a character in real life!
Modelled and designed by John Ablitt.
