| Field Mouse | Field Mouse or Wood Mouse
Latin Name - Apodemus sylvaticus
Wood mice have dark brown fur above, and silvery grey fur below. They have large ears and large protruding eyes. T hey inhabit a range of habitats including forest edge, woodland, grassland, hedgerows and gardens. The Field Mouse feeds on seeds, buds, fruits, insects, snails and fungi.
They are agile climbers and are active at night. They nest below ground in a complicated burrow system, which is used by consecutive generations. They do occasionally nest above ground in holes in trees. They have good night vision and an acute sense of smell.
The Crown Derby Field Mouse Paperweight is a real departure from the rest of the Paperweight series as it definitely has that 'aah' factor, with its huge eyes, big ears and cute button nose. It has been given a cartoon-like and has been cleverly decorated with beautiful 22 carat gold leaves and iron red berries to reflect its habitat..
